From production
to consumption.
Community energy works through the existing distribution grid. No new cables, no complicated technology.
How energy sharing works
Four steps that change the way the region manages energy
Production
A member with solar panels produces more than they consume.
Sharing
Surplus flows through the grid to other members. No new cables.
Storage
Community batteries store midday surplus for evening use.
Consumption
Members draw shared energy at a lower price than standard suppliers.
The Procházka family story
The Procházka family installed solar panels in 2021. In summer they produce far more than they use. Previously they sold surplus back to the grid for a fraction of market price.
After joining ENERKOM, they share surplus with three neighbouring households. Neighbours pay less. The Procházkas receive a fairer price. Everyone wins.
Legal basis
Community energy sharing in the Czech Republic is fully regulated and legal.
Act No. 458/2000 Coll.
The Czech Energy Act allows households, businesses and municipalities to share electricity within an energy community.
EU Directive 2018/2001
The European Renewable Energy Directive establishes the right to produce, consume, store and sell renewable energy as part of a community.
EDC — Energy Data Centre
The Czech Electricity Market Operator (OTE) manages the technical platform. ENERKOM handles all registration on your behalf.
